Mission, Vision, and Values

Mission

The African American Cultural Center is an expressive and abundant haven for the NC State community.

Through a model of student success, well-being, and belonging, we provide mentorship, resources, and cultural programming to empower all NC State students to excel and embrace their identity.

Our work is grounded in the Black diasporic traditions of storytelling, innovation, and communal care.

Vision

The African American Cultural Center is a beacon of success, where dreams flourish and Black diasporic heritage is preserved.

We create opportunities for the NC State community to be valued as authentic, emergent, and expansive.

We acknowledge always, none of us are free until all of us are free.

Values

The African American Cultural Center is grounded in these core values: Open-Mindedness, Care, Creativity, Innovation, Growth, and Freedom

Open-Mindedness

We invite the possibility of others’ perspectives and provide inclusive spaces for people to be seen and heard.

Care

We strive everyday to treat people with love, empathy, and respect. We build a trustworthy environment and lead with transparency.

Creativity

We inspire others to uncover new solutions and envision bold possibilities. We invite our community to question, experiment, and reimagine, shaping a cycle of continuous learning and discovery.

Innovation

We inspire world transformation by promoting exploration, collaboration, and critical thinking. We equip students with the skills and adaptability needed to thrive in an ever-evolving world.

Growth

We honor the process more than the product, embracing the various ways each community member grows and celebrate successes along the way.

Freedom

We galvanize our community and their voices to build a better world where all people can be free, authentic, and whole.
