Borrowing
The collection supports the entire NC State University community with special emphasis on students, faculty, and staff researching and/or connected to Africana Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies and the Interdisciplinary Studies Course (IDS). The African American Cultural Center Library is an affiliate of the NC State University Libraries.
You can browse the shelves and check out items in person, or request items to be sent to one of the main library branches through the catalog, or have items from other libraries sent to the AACC Library for pick up with an expected delivery time of 1 to 2 business days. The AACC library also has a growing collection of technology to check out in person. We hope to see you soon!

Services
The library has wireless access, offering an NC State University network for faculty, staff, and students, as well as a guest network for visitors.
Using your personal computer, you can access library services offered through the NC State University Libraries:
- Access to the collections through the library’s search interface
- Combined access to the library catalogs of NC State, Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill, and North Carolina Central University through the Library Catalog (choose Triangle research libraries)
- AskUs service, with staff available 24 hours to provide help IM, text message, email, or phone
- Access to digitized images and texts from the Special Collections Research Center with historical information about NC State
- Course-related services, including Course Tools and Course Reserves
- Interlibrary Services, for requesting books or articles not available at NC State

Throughout the month of July, The AACC Library displayed a selection of our books about disability in celebration of Disability Pride Month!
Besides books and staff training, we also have amenities to help make the library accessible to everyone! From a height adjustable table, fidget toys, technology, snacks, and more we’re continually updating how we serve everyone in the NC State University community! 📚✨

The AACC Library is hiring an Undergraduate Research Assistant (URA) for the Fall 2026 semester! 📚📝✨
Apply to assist the AACC Library Graduate Research Assistant’s research of the library’s African artifacts collection, which contains statues, masks, instruments, art, and figurines. Tasks will include conducting qualitative research to support creation of public facing descriptions for these cultural artifacts and supporting the inventorying of the artifacts. The URA will expand their research skills, gain hands-on experience working in a library and archival setting, and knowledge of the processes of creating archival records. 🌍📚 15$ per hr 6-8hrs per week. Apply on epack by August 18th for priority consideration!
Please note: this opportunity is available only to students with Federal Work-Study (FWS) eligibility. Check with your financial aid office if you’re unsure of your status.✅

The AACC Library feartured LGBTQ Pride themed book display throughout the month of June. Although pride month has come to an end, you can always find our shelves full of books celebrating a multitude of sexualities, gender identities and ways of being in the AACC Library!🌈📚✨
