Meet CeErra Davis

AACC Embedded Counselor

Hi, I’m CeErra, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and counselor with the NC State Counseling Center. I am the Embedded Counselor in the African American Cultural Center (AACC), which means I provide counseling services directly within the AACC.

Why an Embedded Counselor?

Mental health support is not always easy to access. For some students, the first step of finding a counselor, figuring out where to go, finding an available appointment, or deciding whether what they are experiencing is “serious enough” to seek help can be a barrier.

College can also bring academic pressure, changes in relationships, new responsibilities, and other challenges that can affect your mental health and well-being. The Healthy Minds Study, a national survey of college students, looks at mental health, help-seeking, and the barriers students experience when trying to access support. Recent findings show that students may receive less mental health care because they are not sure where to go, do not have enough time, have difficulty finding an available appointment, or prefer to handle things on their own or with people they already know.

Having an embedded counselor means you have a mental health professional in a space you may already visit and feel comfortable in. My goal is to be a familiar face you can reach out to when you need support and to make connecting with counseling a little easier.

I am here to:

  • Provide counseling for concerns such as stress, relationships, academics, family, and other challenges.
  • Help with college life, including time management, balancing responsibilities, transitions, and figuring out what comes next.
  • Talk things through when you need a space to process a situation, make a decision, or get another perspective.
  • Connect you with resources when you need support beyond what I can provide.
  • Create mental health and wellness programs in the AACC based on what students need and are interested in.

You do not have to wait until you are in crisis to reach out. You also do not have to know exactly what you need before you contact me. Sometimes the first step is simply having someone you recognize to talk to.

Thursday Drop-In Hours

Every Thursday from 2–4 p.m, I hold drop-in hours. Drop-in hours are available for brief conversations, questions, support, and connection to resources. No appointment is needed. A conversation with me does not automatically mean you are starting therapy.

I alternate between the AACC library (2nd floor) and living room (3rd floor). If you would rather schedule a specific time to talk with me, you can submit a request through the AACC/MSA – Let’s Talk Request Form.

Come Chill with Cee

Come Chill with Cee is my series of programs designed to give students opportunities to connect, learn, participate in wellness activities, and take a break from the demands of the semester.

These programs are part of my work as an Embedded Counselor and are one way I bring mental health and wellness into the AACC outside of individual counseling. Throughout the school year, programs may include conversations about mental health and college life, stress management and self-care activities, creative projects, and opportunities to connect with other students and learn more about the Counseling Center and campus resources.

You do not have to be interested in therapy to participate.

See the 2026–2027 Come Chill with Cee program schedule. Some programs have limited space and require an RSVP, so please check the individual program information for registration details.

I’m here to make mental health support more accessible, familiar, and connected to the AACC community. Whether you have a question, need support, want to learn more about counseling, or want to participate in a wellness program, there is a way to connect with me that works for you.
